POONCH : Sara Begum, 40 years of age, is a married woman from village Jallian in Mandi, Poonch and a mother of five children. Her husband is a manual Labourer and survival was tough till she joined the UMEED in year 2016. She came to know about UMEED when “AAM SABHA” was held in her village in which ICRP team from Block Mandi District Poonch made them understand how their small saving of Rs. 100 per month can help to improve their livelihood and generate more means of income.
Like any other village woman of the area, Sara Begum too could not think beyond the four walls of her house until she became a member of Makdoomi SHG. She always wanted to help out her family but had no capital to start alternative livelihood. She came to know about UMEED
She joined Makdoomi SHG in the month of October, 2016 along with 10 women from the neighborhood and associated with Gousia Village Organization in Cluster B.
After joining SHG she took multiple loans from the SHG, VO and got herself linked with Bank. Now her monthly family income is between Rs. 25000 to 30000.
After Joining Umeed and getting different SHG ,CIF and Bank linkage Dose 1st and 2nd now she has opened a Karyana Store, a Service station( Car Washing) and a Tyre Puncher shop. Both husband and wife are running their business and have raised their earnings.
Most of her dreams are fulfilled and now she has become a successful woman. She is now motivating others women to join her SHG.
She has a decent life and can handle the day to day needs in the family. Her all three children are studying which was earlier difficult for them .Her life has transformed economically as well as that of her family .By using linkage fund and other SHG fund she could make more progress in her economic status
