BARAMULLA : In a significant move to equip farmers with latest and modern tools for enhancing their produce, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Baramulla Dr. G. N. Itoo today distributed dairy equipments under Dairy Development Scheme (DDS) among beneficiaries at a function organized at District Veterinary Complex.
The equipments distributed include Automatic Milk Vending Machine, Bulk Milk Cooler, Milking Machine and Chaff Cutter Milk Processing and Fodder Development Components at 50 percent subsidy.
Appreciating the role of Animal Husbandry Department, the DC praised the initiative of the department in tune with the modern times and hoped that such novel steps would motivate other farmers of the district for adoption of the technology and hopefully in the long run to usher white revolution in the district.
He also urged the unemployed youth to opt dairy farming as a means of livelihood besides highlighting its scope in the current time.
Meanwhile, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Baramula encouraged the farmers to work hard with keen interest to make dairying profitable and take the district to new heights vis-a-vis dairy sector.
He emphasized the vital role of farmers for supplying wholesome milk as per ICMR recommendations for boosting immunity and countering diseases such as the current COVID-19 pandemic.
