Srinagar, June 09: Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Tuesday recorded five Covid deaths including two from North Kashmir and three from South Kashmir, talking the number of people who died of deadly virus in the UT to 51.
One among the four deceased was a Cancer patient. The patients who died today include 60-year-old man from. Pulwama, 31-year old man from Kulgam, 70-year-old from man from Panzath Qazigund, 70-year and a 52-year-old man from Sopore.
Professor Farooq Jan, who is Medical Superintendent at SKIMS Soura told that a 31-year-old man from DH Pora, Kulgam, who was suffering from a chronic kidney disease besides other ailments, died at SKIMS on Tuesday evening. He was admitted at SKIMS on June 5, he said.
Dr Salim Tak, Medical Superintendent at CD hospital Srinagar said that a 70-year-old cancer patient from Baramulla district died at the hospital in the afternoon. “He was suffering from stage 4 cancer and had tested positive for Covid-19 on May 28th. However, his latest sample reports were found negative,” he said.
Principal GMC Anantnag, Dr. Showkat Jeelani told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a 72-year-old man from Panzath, who very critical, died at GMC in the morning.
He was tested positive for COVID, a few days ago and was suffering from Pneumonia besides other ailments, Jeelani said.
Health officials in Srinagar said that a man, who was an auto driver by profession, met with an accident on May 19. “He was admitted to SMHS hospital and two days ago and his sample returned positive for COVID. He was shifted to CD hospital,” officials said, adding that he breathed his last today morning, becoming the fourth Covid causality in a day.
Medical Superintendent, SMHS hospital, Dr. Nazir Choudhary told that a 60-year-old man from Pulwama who was admitted to the hospital on June 07 and died on June 08 was tested positive today. His sample was taken and he was tested positive today, he said.
Of the total 51 deaths, Srinagar district has recorded highest fatalities at 12, followed by Baramulla 11, Anantnag 7, Kulgam 5, three each in Shopian, Kupwara and Jammu, two each has been reported in Budgam and Pulwama while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Doda and Udhampur. The 51 deaths also include a non-local tailor from Kolkata and a CRPF man from Uttar Pradesh—(KNO)
