Kupwara: The Jammu and Kashmir police Monday said it has recovered a huge quantity of Pakistani based outfit smuggled illegal weapons in Keran sector in north Kashmir’s kupwara district in a joint operation.

Police in its statement issued to The Earth  News Network said, “Based upon a reliable input a joint search operation was launched by Kupwara Police and Army 6 RR in Keran village and forest areas along the LoC. During the combing operation large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from a weapons dump, details of which are as follows”.

It said, “With this joint operation security forces deployed in Kupwara have successfully foiled the nefarious designs of Pakistan based terror operatives to smuggle illegal weapons into valley and spread terrorism”.

Police claimed to have recovered, AK 47 Rifles – 5, AK Mag – 15, AK Rds – 443, UBGL -2, UBGL, Grenades – 57, 9mm Pistols- 6, 9mm Pistol mag – 12 , 9mm pistol Rds – 77, Hand grenades – 15
And AK sling – 2

In this regard police said  a FIR No. 01/2020, U/Ss 4/5 Explosives Substances Act and 7/25 IA Act, has been registered in PS Keran and further investigation set into motion.
