JAMMU, May 16: Janta Dal (United) Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory President G M Shaheeen urged upon the LG G C Murmu to address the miseries of media fraternity of J&K know as fourth pillar of democracy who are still deprived of financial relief on the same line as given to advocates of J&K during lockdown.
G M Shaleen while talking to J&K Journalists Association and Print Electronic Media who have demanded a financial package for the accredited journalists similar to that has been provided to the advocates by the J&K Government which has been overlooked the government since lockdown.
Appreciating the Lt Governor J&K Girish Chandra Murmu to extend financial relief to financially distressed, advocates Janta Dal (United) requested to the Lt Governor that all the accredited and non accredited journalists have been severely hit due to ongoing coronavirus lockdown and demanded minimum financial assistance for the journalists who are in distress.
Referring to Chairman, J&K Journalists Association and President, Print Electronic Media Association, Shaheen said that journalists who were solely dependent on salary are worst hit due to lockdown. “Since the journalists and photo journalists are fighting with the deadly virus along with health workers and police personnel and helping the J&K govt in fighting with the virus,” he added.
“The advisory of government is reaching to the door step of people of the test journalists and photo journalists. They demanded free medical treatment and test if unfortunately any accredited journalist test positive in J&K,” he reminded.
Shaheen urged upon the J&K government to take this as a special case for accredited journalists and Also non accredited journalists and provide the financial package similar to which has been extended to the advocates in Jammu and Kashmir.
