CAPFs play significant role in maintaining law & order, Counter insurgency operations: DGP

Jammu, 12 May: Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh paid a week-long visit to Kashmir, where he chaired high level security review meetings with senior officers of Police/CAPF to take stock of the security, counter Insurgency operations, and preparation/measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the Kashmir Zone. Shri Dilbag Singh also held interaction with GOC 15 Corps Gen B. S. Raju during this visit.

In order to take stock of security scenario the DGP chaired review meetings which were attended by senior CAPF and Police officers at PCR Kashmir and at Police Golf Course Srinagar. He also visited Srinagar Cargo, DPL Budgam to review the working of J&K Police personnel on multiple fronts.

Earlier in the week the DGP visited 15 Corps where he held interaction with GOC 15 Corps Gen B. S. Raju. During the interaction various aspects of security and counter terrorist operations were discussed.

The DGP inspected offices at Police Headquarters (PHQ) and Armed Police Headquarters (APHQ) on the opening day of Annual Darbar move. He took stock of the opening of these offices and chaired officers meeting at these headquarters.

While chairing these meetings the DGP appreciated the excellent work being done professionally at all fronts by Army, Police and CAPF and said that brave and professional force of J&K Police along with other security force are taking every task as a challenge with fortitude.

At PHQ and APHQ the DGP said that over 15000 police personnel working as frontline corona warriors are fighting with determination at various Covid Care Centres including high risk zone. He also appreciated the role of JK Police in helping the needy local and non-local people by providing dry ration/cooked food, medicines etc.

The DGP directed the officers to take all precaution/measures in sanitizing and decontaminating the offices/buildings regularly.

Besides, continuing with his outreach programmes to review the arrangements to contain spread of COVID-19 pandemic on ground and security situation, on 5th of May the DGP visited Srinagar Cargo and Central Kashmir’s Budgam District.

At Budgam the DGP inaugurated two pre-fabricated structures, one as a 60 bedded barrack and another housing a library, a gym, a TT room, a saloon and a welfare centre for Jawans and GO’s Lodge at Police Lines Budgam. He also addressed a police darbar and also took a reviewed of security scenario of the district in a meeting with officers of the district.

On 6th and 7th May Shri Dilbag Singh chaired a joint officers security meeting at Srinagar to review security and measures taken by Srinagar security grid. The meeting was attended by ADGP CRPF Shri Zulfikar Hassan and other senior officers of Police and CAPF.

Addressing the officers, the DGP said, the role of Police, army and CAPFs deployed on the various assignments in Jammu and Kashmir is commendable and the coordination among various security forces has resulted in huge successes.

During the meeting the DGP complemented the security forces for the recent successful Counter Insurgency operations. He said that CAPFs have played a significant role both in maintaining law & order and Counter insurgency operations.

The DGP stressed upon the officers not to let the peaceful atmosphere be disturbed by the elements inimical to peace. He said that the synergy among the forces has yielded desired results in maintaining peace & order and added that we have to strengthen the bond further to foil ill-designs of the neighboring country and its sponsored terror outfits operating in J&K.

He said that security is to be strengthened at all levels with joint efforts of all security forces to foil any nefarious designs of terrorists. He said the personnel on ground should be briefed regularly and the synergy at the grass root level of SHOs and Coy commanders has to be at level best for achieving better results.

The DGP Shri Dilbag Singh also visited Delhi for a day to brief higher authorities on the law & order and security situation prevailing currently in Jammu and Kashmir and Pak designs to disturb the prevailing peaceful environment here.

He also visited Northern Command Headquarters on 11th May and had detailed discussions with the GOC-in-C Gen Y K Joshi, regarding security situation along the borders /LOC with Pakistan, ceasefire violations and increasing infiltration bids by Pakistan to push in more terrorists this side. The hinterland situation and counter terrorist operations also came up for discussion along with counter measures to Pakistan initiated propaganda and other objectionable activities aimed at instigating and promoting terrorist violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pertinent to mention that during the last week, Police and Security forces achieved huge success against terrorists. In the previous week six terrorists included the chief operation commander Riyaz Niakoo were killed in various successful Counter Insurgency Operations in Kashmir. Many hideouts were also smashed and arms & ammunition was recovered.
