Police in Udhampur foil narcotic bid , punjab resident held

Udhampur, May 06: Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have foiled a narcotic bid at Udhampur and arrested a Punjab resident in this connection.

Rajiv Pandey, IPS SSP Udhampur divulging the details said that, “Police party of PS Udhampur led by Insp. Vijay Singh Choudhary SHO PS Udhampur under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch AdSP Udhampur and Dr. Rohit Chadgal DySP Hqrs. Udhampur laid a naka at Jakhani, NHW Udhampur”.

During naka checking, police party intercepted one vehicle (truck) bearing registration no. PB 08BL 7976 for checking, he said.

He said during checking of said vehicle, “302 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle. The accused driver namely Jaswant Singh S/O Sobu Singh R/O Hazipur, Patiala, Punjab was arrested on spot and recovered poppy straw was also seized”.

In this connection he said,  a case FIR No. 186/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
