DC B’la inspects Quarantine Centre, reviews arrangements

BARAMULLA, MARCH 21:

Deputy Commissioner (DC), Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo accompanied by SSP Baramulla, Ab. Qayoom today inspects the quarantine centre established at Government Medical College, Baramulla and took first-hand appraisal of various arrangements and preventive measures put in place to tackle the spread of COVID-19.

On the occasion, DC was briefed by the Medical Superintendent Associated Hospital Baramulla, Dr Syed Masood about arrangements that have been put in place for the patients.

He was informed that adequate measures including deployment of medical teams for thermal screening at various locations have been taken.

Directing the concerned authorities to act in an efficient manner, DC stressed officers to remain vigilant and said that any kind of laxity on this count won’t be tolerated. He directed the concerned to put in place a viable mechanism so that any kind of emergency is tackled smoothly.

On the occasion, DC inspected various pharmaceutical centres and directed the attendants not to allow large gatherings at their centres. He also asked them to sell the masks and hand sanitizers at appropriate rates while warning them of strict action in case of overpricing.

Later, the DC chaired a meeting with the concerned officers to discuss various measures with regard to prevention of COVID-19 and emphasized on adopting preventive measures besides synergizing efforts for identifying all such persons having travel history to the Coronavirus affected regions.

On the occasion, a threadbare discussion was held during which necessary contingency plans at different levels were formulated so that more proactive measures are taken.

Others issues that were thoroughly discussed include the smooth collection of samples, institutional &home quarantine facilities and liaison between different agencies.
