New Delhi Mar 19 : The culprits of Nirbhaya will be hanged at 5.30 am on March 20. The Patiala House Court has upheld the death sentence while passing judgment on the plea of the convicts. The counsel for the convicts AP Singh had requested to postpone the execution on March 20 citing several cases. Earlier today, three petitions of Nirbhaya convicts have been dismissed.
Another maneuver to save Nirbhaya’s convict Pawan could not succeed. On Thursday, the Supreme Court quashed Pawan’s curative petition, in which he declared himself a minor at the time of the incident. The petition filed in the Supreme Court challenged the High Court’s decision, claiming that its plea was not properly heard and the petition was dismissed.
After the Delhi High Court dismissed the petition, Nirbhaya case convict Mukesh Singh moved the Supreme Court claiming that he was not in Delhi at the time of the crime in December 2012. When its hearing started on Thursday afternoon, the Supreme Court dismissed Mukesh’s petition saying that all these things have no meaning now, every court has heard all your petitions properly.
President refuses to hear second mercy petition of Akshay and Pawan
With Mukesh and Pawan’s petitions dismissed, the President also refused to look into the second petition of Akshay and Pawan.
Along with this, it has also been argued that postponement of the petition filed in the international court on behalf of convicts Vinay, Pawan and Akshay is still pending, hence the execution of the hanging on the morning of 20 March Go
