CEC Wangyal launches awareness campaign on COVID 19 in Sakti

Leh: To aware people of Sakti area about COVID-19, the Chairman, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P. Wangyal along with SDM Kharu today visited PHC Sakti and interacted with people representatives and villagers.

CEC Wangyal appealed people to not panic and urged them to take precautionary measure advised by the medial experts. He said that everyone is concern about COVID-19 outbreak in Ladakh and to combat the virus, the UT Administration and LAHDC, Leh has already made an elaborate arrangement at all levels.

Regarding apprehension and concern of villagers about incoming labours at BRO 51 RCC Sakti stationed within the village which used to cater about 3000 to 4000 labours in working season, CEC Wangyal along with SDM Kharu, BDC Chairman Kharu, Sarpanches, Numbarders and village representatives immediately met with 2 IC 51 RCC Sakti Maj. K. Nagendra and BRO Officers at 51 RCC Sakti and discussed about the issue.

2 IC 51 RCC Sakti Maj. K. Nagendra assured CEC to extend full cooperation from BRO to Sakti village in fight against COVID-19. He said that all incoming new BRO labours will be quarantine at their centre for 14 days and will be issued id card after full medical checkup. He also assured that only 40 to 50 labours will be kept at 51 RCC Sakti under strict monitoring till the situation gets normal.

Medical Officer PHC Sakti educating people about the do’s and don’ts related to COVID-19 advised them to follow basic protective measures so that they can keep themselves safe from the Novel Coronavirus. He requested villagers to avoid large gatherings.

Regarding drinking water problems in Sakti area, CEC said that water reservoir at Taknak, Nalapheau and Kharu will be made functional in the upcoming working season to resolve drinking water problems in the area and requested BDC Kharu and respective Sarpanches to insure compete survey and physical verification of every household in their respective villages under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) launched by GoI to provide tap water to all households. Wangyal also assured to improve electric lines in the Sakti area at the earliest.

Later, CEC also visited Medical Sub Center Chemday and Kharu and inquired about the awareness being given to public about COVID-19.
