Kishtwar: District Administration Kishtwar has decided to involve and train grassroot level health workers to educate people about COVID-19.
District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara asked the Chief Medical Officer to train and sensitize health workers at block level by March 15 and submit a report in this regard on daily basis.
The DDC was chairing a meeting of officers of health and ICDS department convened to took stock of measures being taken to tackle the Corona threat at the ground level.
Besides, Project Officer, ICDS and CMO were asked to coordinate their efforts for disseminating awareness about COVID-19 among the masses including people living in rural areas through ASHAs, Anganwari Workers, Anganwari Helpers and other grass root level functionaries. He asked for holding trainings and orientation programmes for these grassroot level functionaries.
He further asked to use loudspeakers and drum for educating people about prevailing threat of Corona Virus in all Health Blocks of District Kishtwar.
During the meeting, the DDC also took stock of establishment of isolation wards, home quarantines and availability of masks, essential medicines, awareness generation programmes and sensitization of staff, among others.
The DDC further directed the CMO to conduct frequent inspections at public places, such as bus stands, Hotels and other places of social gatherings and educate the masses about problem of spreading COVID 19.
Later, the DDC convened a meeting with hoteliers and reviewed status of the precautionary measures taken by them to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
He asked all the hoteliers to scrutinize the self-declaration forms of every visiting person on daily basis and also note down the preliminary health status of each and every guest and report the health authorities, if anyone is found with suspected symptoms.
He further directed them to maintain proper sanitation and hygiene in and around their hotels to avoid the chances of spreading this epidemic.
