Bhopal mar 10 : Holi holiday set up a political thriller in the National capital on Tuesday, with the Congress rebel Jyotiraditya Scindia tendered his resignation from the party after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leader Amit Shah.
Scindia drove to 7, Lok Kalyan Marg of Prime Minister on Tuesday morning. Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah was also present in the meeting, sources said.
The final act in the political saga of Madhya Pradesh is seen in the political circles with the meeting of Scindia with Prime Minister.
The development also came hours before the BJP Central Election committee meeting in the evening to finalize candidates for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections.
Chouhan, meanwhile, is back in Bhopal, and the BJP on the basis of Scindia supporters would seek to oust the incumbent Chief minister Kamal Nath out of power.
The BJP is learnt to have finalised an induction package for Scindia in the BJP, which may include his Rajya Sabha nomination and even a place in the Union Cabinet.
While Sonia Gandhi called for an emergency meeting in the national capital, CM Kamal Nath presently in a huddle with the senior state leaders in Bhopal presently.
Congress Legislature Party meeting has been called in Bhopal at 5 pm today.
Senior Madhya Pradesh leader Jyotiradiya Scindia resigned from Congress. Earlier, he met Home Minister Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi, leading to rumours that Scindia may switch sides.
BJP MLA and ex-minister Vishwas Sarang said, “All is Well going to happen in Madhya Pradesh.”
“BJP worried as the scams of their 15-year-old rule are being unearthed. Also, Kamal Nath government’s crackdown against organised mafia is worrying BJP,” said senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, while attacking the saffron party.
“All their (BJP) deeds will be exposed. BJP leaders involved in honey trap racket case will also be exposed,” he further said.
Singh further asked BJP why were two BJP leaders, including MLA Arvind Bhadauria and organisation leader Ashutosh Tiwari boarding the same chartered flight on which four Congress MLAs were taken to Bengaluru from Delhi on March 4. “I’ve information about not one but three chartered planes having been arranged by BJP leaders for sending our MLAs to Bengaluru on Monday. Why all MLAs are being taken to Bengaluru only and being kept in the security provided by BJP government in Bengaluru,” he said.
The development comes a day after the Kamal Nath-led state government plunged into a deep crisis, as seventeen of its MLAs, allegedly close to Scindia suddenly became ‘incommunicado’ on Monday ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
Ten hours after ex-CM Digvijaya Singh said that Scindia was suffering from Swine Flu, all eyes are set on Scindia now.
Scindia, one of the most powerful Congress leaders in the central Indian state, is likely to make a major political announcement on Tuesday, on his father Madhav Rao Scindia’s birth anniversary.
Though his actual program for the day is not yet out, there is a strong possibility of him travelling to native Gwalior for his father’s grand celebrations, where he could make major announcement amid speculations of him joining BJP.
Scindia has three options, either staying with Congress, form a new party like his father did in the 1990s or pull down the Congress government and later joins the BJP like his grandmother Vijay Raje Scindia did in the late 1960s.
Hinting towards its possibility, senior BJP MLA Narottam Mishra said on Tuesday morning, “Scindiaji is a big leader, he will be welcomed, if he decides to come with us,” said Mishra.
Mishra and ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan reached Bhopal from Delhi early on Tuesday.
They will attend the all-important BJP legislature party meeting in the evening, where the BJP will ensure to keep its flock of 107 MLAs intact.
All 114 ruling Congress MLAs too have been summoned to Bhopal for the evening legislature party meeting even as 17 Scindia loyalist MLAs including six ministers remain untraceable somewhere in Bengaluru.
Late on Monday tonight, 20 ministers had submitted their resignations to CM Kamal Nath and requested him to reconstitute the 28-strong cabinet for addressing concerns of disgruntled MLAs to keep BJP out of power.
Now, it also remains to be seen how the CM acts against the untraceable six Scindia loyalist ministers, who haven’t resigned.
