Centre is committed to inclusive development in Jammu and Kashmir, says Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

Srinagar | 21 Jan: Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said that central government is committed to inclusive development and corruption-free accountability in the functioning of government machinery in Jammu & Kashmir.

Addressing a public outreach programme at Harwan in Srinagar outskirts today, he said, the Central Government is working with full sincerity to ensure that the benefits of development reach the deserving masses. Mr Naqvi stressed that the Government is making all efforts to reach out to the people of the Union Territory to better understand their aspirations.

The Minister said that the Centre’s outreach programme provides an opportunity for people to raise their demands and seek their resolution. He said, it is time for people to take benefit of development schemes and J&K should be part of the developmental story of India. He added that the central government is monitoring and ensuring that funds that are meant for developmental schemes reach to the grass-root level.

The Minister said that to encourage youth to take different job-oriented courses, skill development courses are being imparted for minority communities. He said that setting up of institutions like AIIMS, ITIs and IIMs will provide a platform for the youth of the valley to compete with the best in business.

Talking about Haj quota this year, the Minister said, they would try to accommodate all the Haj aspirants from Jammu & Kashmir.
Mr Naqvi e-inaugurated the 5×44 meter trussed Girder Bridge over River Jehlum at Malroo Srinagar outskirts.  He also e-inaugurated a mega Forest Protection Force(FPF) office complex at Bemina in Srinagar. The Union Minister also laid e-foundation of High School Building at Dara Harwan.

Later, the Minister heard various public deputations as a part of the outreach programme launched by Central government. The Minister assured them that all their demands will be taken up on priority.

Meanwhile, as a part of the public outreach programme, Union Minister V K Singh today reviewed the progress of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway from Udhampur to Chennai. During his visit to Chenani, Udhampur, the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways directed the concerned authorities to expedite the execution of work and complete the project within the time frame.

Mr Singh said, Centre is committed to empowering the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Women Empowerment is visible on the ground in Jammu and Kashmir.

He also took feedback about the implementation of various government schemes from the people and also interacted with the public and various beneficiaries of different schemes. He assured the gathering that all the demands projected by elected representatives will be resolved on a priority basis.
