Srinagar, Jan 9, TEN Network | Kashmir reeled under intense cold conditions on Tuesday with Pahalgam and Gulmarg experiencing the coldest night of the season so far, the weather office said.
The minimum temperature across Kashmir and Ladakh remained several degrees below the freezing point on Thursday owing to the clear sky, an official of the Meteorological Department said.
He said Pahalgam recorded the coldest night of the season so far as the minimum temperature settled at minus 13.7, leading to freezing of water supply lines at several places.
The ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded the low of minus 13.6 degrees Celsius last night down from the previous night’s minus 7.6 degrees Celsius, he said.
The night temperature at Srinagar settled at a low of minus 3.0 degrees Celsius while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 6.1 degrees Celsius last night.
Jammu city recorded 3.0 degrees Celsius, Katra 2.4, Batote minus 4.1, Banihal recorded minus 4.0 and Bhaderwah recorded minus 4.9 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures. (KL)
