Srinagar, Dec 09, TEN Network | Winter vacation for schools in Kashmir would commence from December 16, Secretary School Education Department Sarita Chauhan has told on Sunday.
“Most probably, the vacation for all classes from primary to higher secondary level (kindergarten to class 12th) will commence from December 16. The order in this regard will be issued on Monday (December 9),” she said
The biting cold and poor visibility in Kashmir have made it difficult for students to leave for schools early in the morning. Although new academic session in government schools has not started yet due to term-II exams of junior class students being held late but the new session has already commenced in all the private schools.
As per the academic calendar prepared by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), the term- II exams were scheduled to be held in first week of October followed by declaration of results by October last week. The new academic session in schools should have started in first week of November.
“But this year the term-II exam was conducted in mid-November which delayed commencement of new academic session,” the official said. He said the result of junior classes- 6th to 8th will be declared by December 12. (GK)
