SC adjourns hearing on illegal detention of children in J&K to Dec 13

New Delhi, Dec 09, TEN Network |    The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the hearing pertaining to the illegal detention of children in J&K after abrogation of Article 370.

A bench comprising Justices NV Ramana, R Subhash Reddy and BR Gavai said: “We have received the juvenile justice report. We will review it and then take a call on it.”

“We will study the report,” the bench said and fixed the matter for next hearing to Dec 13.

The bench was hearing one of the batches of pleas challenging the restrictions in J&K region after the abrogation of 370.

The plea which has been filed by a child rights activists Enakshi Ganguly and Professor Shanta Sinha alleges illegal detentions of children in Jammu & Kashmir region.

On the previous hearings while raising crucial questions to the detention of children in J&K, the bench had directed Juvenile Justice Committee of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court to file a report pertaining to the facts mentioned in the writ petition. (IL)
