Weather to remain dry till Dec 7: MeT

Jammu, Dec 03, TEN Network |   Meteorological Department has predicted that weather across Jammu and Kashmir is likely to remain dry till December 7.

An official of Meteorological Department said Srinagar will witness cloudy skies on December 3-4 and maximum temperature will remain 8-9 degrees Celsius.

“Thereafter, sky conditions are expected to remain clear till 7 December,” the official said.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar could fall to minus 2-3 degree till 7 December, which is few notches below the normal, he said.

Jammu is expected to have a warm start to December with mostly clear skies. Maximum temperature in Jammu is expected to remain around 25 degrees and minimum temperature between 8-9 degrees till 7 December.
On Sunday, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 10.8 degrees and the minimum temperature stood at minus 0.9 degrees. However, the early morning sun provided relief to residents both in Kashmir and Jammu regions.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, which experienced several feet of snowfall last week, was the coldest place in the Valley with a low of minus 8.0 degrees Celsius.

Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir also recorded a minimum of minus 6.6 degrees Celsius while Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius.

Katra, which serves as the base camp for pilgrims visiting Vaishno Devi Shrine in Reasi district of Jammu region, recorded a low of 7.8 degrees Celsius, an official said adding Bhadarwah township of Doda district was, however, the coldest place in the region with a minimum of 0.2 degrees Celsius.
