Srinagar, Dec 03, TEN Network | After attempts of torching the shops in Srinagar, many of traders association from different areas here have been looking for night watchman to ensure their properties are not secured and protected.
It has been reported that the petrol was sprinkled over dozens of shops, located in Goni Khan area of Srinagar here were on Friday-Saturday night while as many shopkeepers whose shops are located near Akhada building here in Lal Chowk also alleged that petrol was sprinkled over their shops in the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday.
According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the shopkeepers also staged a protest on Sunday, demanding security to their properties.
However, the traders association from different localities are now been looking for night watchman here who will take care of their properties during night hours.
Traders from Goni Khan area of Srinagar told KNO that unknown persons have attempted to torch their shops in the intervening night of Friday-Saturday following which the shopkeepers under the banner of Traders Association Goni Khan here decided to depute night watchman here, who will take care of their properties during the night hours.
They said that they have also issued an advertisement in this regard through a local daily. “We have raised the issue with the concerned officials as well and want our properties be secured,” traders said.
Reports reaching here also said that some of the markets in other Srinagar areas have also deputed night watchman for the safety of their business establishments.
Pertinently, many shops and vehicles were gutted in a mysterious blaze at different locations across Srinagar so far, causing huge losses to the owners. Such incidents took place after the businessmen and transporters resumed their business following over 100-day-long shutdown since August 5, when the central government abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union Territories.
