Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will be taking oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday. In what will conclude a month-long political drama in Maharashtra, the swearing-in event will take place at 6.40 pm at Shivaji Park. 59-year-old Thackeray, the leader of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, an alliance of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, is the first from one of Maharashtra’s most prominent political families to take oath as state’s CM. Mumbai Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the mega event at Shivaji Park.

Prior to this, Narayan Rane and Manohar Joshi of the Shiv Sena have served tenures as CMs. While PM Narendra Modi, Congress’ working president Sonia Gandhi, former PM Manmohan Singh have been invited for the event, who will attend the event is yet unclear.

Maharashtra LIVE:

12.00 am: DMK president MK Stalin arrives in Mumbai. He will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new government of the state, led by Shiv Sena chief and ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi’ Uddhav Thackeray as the Chief Minister, today.

11.11 am: Balasaheb Thorat, Maharashtra Congress president says, “I don’t know how many ministers will take oath today but Chief Minister and a few ministers from the three parties (Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena) will take oath at the ceremony.”

10.37 am: ‘Bal Thackeray Samadhi’ in Shivaji Park has been decorated, ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Shiv Sena chief and ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi’ leader Uddhav Thackeray, as the Chief Minister of #Maharashtra today.

10.00 am: NCP leader Praful Patel has said that his party will get the deputy chief minister’s post in the new Shiv Sena-led government. While Congress will get Assembly Speaker’s position, NCP will get Deputy Speaker’s seat.

9.46 am: Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) Jayant Patil and Chhagan Bhujbal to take oath today, reports news agency ANI citing sources. On the contrary, Ajit Pawar to be the Deputy Chief Minister in Maharashtra government but he is not likely to take oath today. Congress will hold the Speaker’s position.

9.45 am: Mumbai Commissioner of Police Sanjay Barve reviews security arrangements at Shivaji Park, ahead of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray’s swearing-in as Maharashtra Chief Minister.
