New Delhi, Nov 18, TEN Network | Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the upper House of Parliament—Rajya Sabha— on its 250th session.

Speaking to reporters on Monday morning ahead of the winter session, PM Modi had said, “This is the last Parliament session of 2019. It [winter session] is very important because this the 250th Parliament session of the Rajya Sabha. During this session, on 26th, we will observe the Constitution Day – when our Constitution completes its 70 years.”

On the eve of the landmark session, Rajya Sabha ‎chairman M Venkaiah Naidu had on Sunday met leaders of all political parties. He had highlighted the contribution of Rajya Sabha in transformation of India and said it still has “miles to go”.

To mark the landmark 250th session, there would be a discussion in the House on the ‘Role of Rajya Sabha in Indian Polity: Need for Reform’ on Monday.

According to a Rajya Sabha Secretariat statement, a coin, a postal stamp and two publications, one of which would detail the house journey since 1952, will also be released.

Naidu had said a joint sitting of members of both the houses of Parliament will be held in the Central Hall on November 26 to mark the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the constitution by the Constituent Assembly.

Addressing 250th session of Rajya Sabha, “I am honoured to be a part of this special session. This house has witnesses many historic moments and I am glad to be a part of this 250th session.”
