RAJOURI OCTOBER 06: The District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today briefed the media persons about the arrangements made for ensuing elections to Urban Local Bodies (ULB).
The DEO said that the polls under phase-I on Oct 08, 2018 will be held in all the five municipal committees of the district.
The poll hours would be between 7am to 4pm and counting of votes will be held on Oct 20, 2018, he said.
DEO informed that out of 61 polling stations, four have been designated as hypersensitive, 33 have been designated as sensitive and 24 as normal.
On security for the polling stations, DEO said: “we have a foolproof security plan in place for all the polling stations, and elaborate and separate plans for hypersensitive, sensitive polling stations. We have looked into all the aspects and would conduct free and fair elections.”
He also informed that to conduct free and fair elections micro observers have been deployed in all the hypersensitive and sensitive polling stations.
DEO appealed voters to turn up at polling booths on poll day to participate in the elections to the urban local bodies. He also discussed the importance of the polls for strengthening democratic institutions at grass root level.
