KATHUA, OCTOBER 5: District Election Officer (DEO), Rohit Khajuria, today chaired a meeting of Nodal Officers, Returning Officers, Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates to review the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of Municipal Elections in the district.

While reviewing the preparedness on various fronts, Rohit Khajuria informed that polling time has been changed to 7 AM to 4 PM, earlier it was 7 AM to 2 PM.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ghansham Singh Bali, SSP, Shridhar Patil, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Jatinder Mishra, Assistant Commissioner (Development), Sukhpal Singh, Deputy District Election Officer, Chand Kishore Sharma and nodal officers designated for various activities were present in the meeting.

The meeting discussed issues like manpower, randomization, training of polling staff, SVEEP, communication plan, transport plan, material arrangement, expenditure monitoring, EVM management, postal ballot management, establishment of helpline and complaint redressal, besides law and order issues and duty of zonal and sectoral magistrates.

Khajuria directed the Nodal officers and Returning Officers to remain vigilant and acquaint themselves with the knowledge, rules and regulations of election commission of India. He directed them to work as a team for bridging the communication gap and to yield better results. He further stressed on adhering to the model code of conduct during election and added that Kathua will go to poll on 10 October.

SSP Kathua also sought cooperation from   the officers entrusted with poll duties   for smooth conduct of polls. He laid stress on maintaining law and order as it is precursor for free, fair and transparent election.

Later, the DEO also listened to the problems being faced by the officers and passed necessary directions to resolve their issues.
