Advisor Kumar discusses operational readiness of Labour Deptt’s online portal

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 01: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today convened a high-level meeting to discuss the operational readiness of the online portal of Labour Department being developed for making public services online under all Labour Acts applicable in the State.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce Shailendra Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Labour & Employment Saurabh Bhagat, Labour Commissioner J&K Bashir Ahmad Khan, MD SICOP R L Tickoo, Incharge IT Cell SICOP Vishal Mahajan and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on various issues related to the online portal including its utilization and feedback.

Principal Secretary I&C informed the Advisor that SICOP has developed the portal for Labour department and presently there are 11 services which are being provided to the people. He further said that in coming time, few more services would be added in the portal for the benefit of the people.

While inquired by the Advisor about having provision of online payments, Commissioner Secretary Labour informed that the online payment gateway has also been created for all kind of payments required to be made for getting the services through this portal. He said that department is working on making this portal fully operational soon with more additional services for the people.

The meeting also discussed other issues including training to staff for smooth operations, hand holding support by SICOP to Labour department for better utilization of the portal, adding up of additional services etc.

It was also decided that that an android/iOS based mobile application would also be developed for providing easy access of the services to the people.

Addressing the meeting, the Advisor asked the Labour department to take steps in further providing easy access to the services under the ‘ease of doing business’ initiative. He also asked for working towards introducing home delivery of services to the people in the future time.

The Advisor stressed for imparting hands on training programme to the staff so that they would utilize the services of the portal to the fullest. He asked SICOP officers to organize training programmes for the staff of Labour department in both the divisions so that they would be made well acquainted with the portal and its use.
