UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER-29:– Government Degree College Boys today organized a symposium on the topic “Relevance of Truth and Non-Violence in Modern Era” here on the 3rd day of Special Summer Camp of NSS & NCC unit.

Around 16 NSS volunteers threw light on the topic. Principal   Prof (Dr). Udhey Bhanu, presided over the function and Prof. Sumiksha Thakur of Department of Botany and Prof. Shonima Malhotra of Department of Sociology performed as member jury.

  NSS Volunteer   Nitish Sharma of B.Sc. sem-V bagged 1st prize while Priyanka Thakur and Mousam Kumari  of B.Sc. Sem-I were stood  2nd and 3rd prize respectively. Besides  Consolation prizes  were claimed by  Simran Suntal of B.Sc. Sem-III,  Anchal Sharma and Sonali Bharti B.Sc. Sem-V respectively.

Addressing the students, the principal said that the NSS and NCC cadets Volunteers play a pivotal role in carrying any information or awareness to the masses. He appreciated both NSS and NCC volunteers and their mentor Programme officers   for organizing such meaningful activity in the College. As the whole Nation was observing today September 29th as “Prakaram Parv”, the NSS volunteers and NCC cadets took pledge to support   Sovereignty and integrity of the Country.

Rich tributes were paid to the Indian Soldiers who laid down their lives while guarding the nation. A movie on the “Surgical Strike-2017” was also screened for the NSS and NCC students.

The programme concluded with NCC song followed by National Anthem. Priyatosh Dev Rakhwal of B.Sc. Sem-III coordinated the programme while  Vikram Jeet extended technical support in the proceedings of the programme. Dr. Anita Sharma, NSS Programme Officer presented the formal vote of thanks.

Among others present were HoD Physics, Prof. Suresh Kr. Dogra, NCC Officer, Prof  Kamal Kishore,. NSS Programme Officer, Samosh Kumar, HoD EVS, Prof. Poonam Kundan, besides students of the college.
