JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 28: Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment, Saurabh Bhagat, today directed for complete digitization of Provident Fund (PF) for effective implementation of labour laws and better revenue realization.

He gave the directions at one day seminar on labour laws organized by the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Jammu. The theme of the seminar was ‘Ease of Doing Business and Digitization’.

Among others, the seminar was attended by Labour Commissioner, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Shenaz Akhter and General Manager DIC Jammu, Rajesh Sharma.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhagat said that the Department is involved in enforcement of 29 labour laws which include both central and state laws. He said that there should be no compromise on speedy disposal of cases.

Responding to the speakers from various labour organizations regarding absence of law officers, Bhagat said he will take up the matter with the Law Department to ensure that at least one law officer each is posted in Jammu and Kashmir regions.

Commissioner Secretary instructed the officers to undertake field visits to ensure enforcement of labour laws and also to eradicate the menace of child labour in the state. He directed the officers to make all-out efforts for highlighting various schemes of the government for labourers.

All ALCs are directed to revisit the commercial centres registered with the department and check whether the data provided by the employers is correct. This process of validation will ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach to all sections of labourers without any pilferage, he said.

The seminar was also attended by senior officers of the department, industrialists and various labour organizations.
