Jammu Sept, 4: In order to prepare the students of Technical Education studying in various Polytechnics and ITIs of J&K state for jobs in local and multinational companies and exposing them to newer technologies and engineering methodologies, a meeting was held in the office chamber of President Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu on 04-09-2018. The meeting was chaired by Ms Anoo Malhotra Director Technical Education, J&K and attended by Mr. Rakesh Gupta, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu, Er Arun Bangotra, Principal, Government Polytechnic, Jammu, Er Ritu Jamwal, Principal, Government Women Polytechnic, Jammu, Er G.M Bhat, Joint Director (ITIs), Er Anoop Sharma, Assistant Director, Technical Education, S.R Bansal, Industrialist, SAC BariBrahmana, Sh. Ajay Langer, General Secretary and Viraaj Malhotra from Bari Brahama Industrial Association, Mr. Vivek, Mr Rajeev Gupta, Mr Manish Gupta and Ashu Gupta from Confederation of Indian Industry, representative from Saraswati Group of Industries and Ashima Kaul Founder & M.D Yakjah Reconcilation and Development Network.
The objective of the meeting was to bridge the gap between industry and the academic institutions. Ms Anoo Malhotra impressed upon better interaction between technical institutions and industry in near future and said these interaction will have great bearing on the Polytechnics/ITIs curriculum, exposure of students to industrial atmosphere and subsequent placement of young graduating engineers in industries across the state and country. Mr Rakesh Gupta, President appreciated the effort of Director Technical Education and assured her that full co-operation will be provided to the Department of Technical Education and CCI will act as Nodal agency for providing the industrial training and placement to the students of Polytechnics and ITIs. During the meeting discussion was also held that Dummy Industrial units will be established by the Department of Technical education in near future to provide the technical exposure to the students. It was also put forth in the meeting that Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed between the Department of Technical Education and Chamber of Commerce and Industries to revamp the Technical Education Department by providing employment opportunities and industrial Training in various set-ups at Jammu and Kashmir.
It was also proposed in meeting that Industry-Institute Interaction will be designed to prepare the manpower of world class in the field of science and technology by inculcating the various skills required by the industry, thereby contributing to the economic and social development at large. With several layers of collaboration being built by the government to develop the Make in India program, the manpower needs have to be fulfilled in order to witness the required development. Though availability of manpower is abundant but well equipped manpower with employability skills is the need of the hour.
Director Technical Education also chaired a review meeting in her office chamber with the officers from JKPCC, R&B (PWD) and Housing Board related to various constructions going on in various Polytechnics and ITIs. She impressed upon all the officers to expedite the construction work so that students are provided with requisite infrastructure for training.
