SRINAGAR, AUGUST 25 (PTK): The Article 35A, which is there from last 90 years, should remain in the Constitution of India, said Mani Shankar Aiyar, a senior Congress leader while speaking at a seminar in Srinagar titled ‘Discussion on J&K and Indo-Pak relations’ organised by Center for Peace and Progress on Saturday.

In defence of the Article 35A, the Congress leader said that the Article should remain in the Constitution of India so that Kashmiris don’t feel threatened. “I wish article 35-A to remain in Indian constitution so that people of Kashmir won’t feel fearful. And the right which they have from last 90 years should remain with them,” Aiyar told reporters at the end of the seminar.

He further added that I am saying we must not touch the issue of Article 35A. It is in our constitution and one must not make any attempt to revoke it. Some people are unnecessarily raking up the issue which is not in anyone’s interest.

Aiyar added that now when the matter has reached Supreme Court ‘we can’t do anything about it. (PTK)
