Leh, August 25: CEC, LAHDC Dorjey Mutup convened a meeting with Home Minister, Central Tibetan Administration Sonam Tobgais to discuss about issues pertaining to Tibetans resident in Leh district.
EC Agriculture Tsering Angdus, EC Health Gyal Wangyal, EC tourism Tsering Sandup, EC Animal & Sheep Husbandry Mumtaz Hussain, DC Leh Avny Lavasa, Tehsilder Leh Gurmet Namgial and CRO, Choglamsar.
The meeting discussed about the Rs. 650 crores funds sanctioned by Government of India under a scheme for strengthening of Changthang settlement in Ladakh which includes 19 villages between 0-10 kms from India-China border with the objective to strengthen the local infrastructure of these villages and to boost economic activity.
The Home Minister requested Hill Council to take up with centre government for release of this fund so that work on rehabilitating Tibetan refugees, mainly nomads in Changthang. He also requested to transfer schemes and funds relating to green houses, tourist lodges and education institutions in Tibetan localities to the CTRC to implement under the direction of DC, Leh. He also asked Hill Council to take up with Enforcement Directorate, J&K to issue notice or take action against some Tibetans who have unlawfully sold their government leased land to locals in Leh. He expressed gratitude to Hill Council and people of Ladakh for their constant support to the Tibetans in ensuring a comfortable and safe stay in India.
CEC Dorjey Mutup said that Hill Council has already taken up the matter with centre government and documentation is under process. He said that the scheme matters to entire Ladakh and Tibetans residing near borders in particular. He assured full coordination and support on part of council to get the scheme started as soon as possible and also asked them to do constant follow up with Indian Government. He urged the Home Minister CTA to make committed efforts and initiate stern action on their part to keep a check and stop selling leased land by Tibetans to locals.
