Leh: 21 August, 2018: During her maiden visit of Leh district, Ms. Sulekha Kumbhare, Member National Commission for Minorities today chaired an important meeting with all the community members of Leh district with district administration at Leh and reviewed the ongoing welfare schemes and programmes for minorities being implemented under Prime Minister’s 15 Point programmes for the welfare of minorities in Leh district.

Ms. Sulekha Kumbhare took a detail review of all the social welfare schemes being implemented in the district for the socio economic upliftment of minorities and tribal population including ICDS, scholarship and education loans for students under various schemes, Housing schemes under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY),  medical care facilities Skill Training programmes, women empowerment programmes  and directed DC, Leh and all the concerned officers to expedite all the schemes with letter and spirit. She directed all the HODs to give detail progress report of all the schemes and programmes in written by tomorrow evening highlighting problems, issues and recommendations needed for smooth implementation of schemes in the district. She directed concerned HODs to organize awareness camps in entire district and print leaflets highlighting Prime Minister’s 15 Point programmes in English, Hindi, Urdu and Ladakhi Boti languages and circulate these leaflets in all the schools and community centers at large scale.

DC, Leh Avny Lavasa apprised Ms. Sulekha about the Tribal Sub Plan funds which is the major source for supplementing district plan funds, but since 2015 no funds was given under Tribal Sub Plan in the district due to which number of projects are incomplete.

All the heads of the community in one vice demanded State Minority Commission Office in the J&K State so that all the problems and issues of minority could be raised easily. Supported by all the community,  Vice President LBA P.T Kunzang strongly demanded inclusion of Boti language  in the 8th schedule.  President Anjuman Imamiya, Ashraf Ali Barcha requested district administration to provide list of beneficiaries covered under various welfare schemes to all the community heads for assessment at their own levels. President Christian Community Dechen Chamgha advocated for conducted awareness camps for Ladakhi students at Delhi, Chandigarh and Jammu and also raised the connectivity problem especially poor internet facility in entire district due to which people are unable to avail various govt. schemes.

Giving a patient hearing to the demands, Ms. Sulekha assured to take the demand for inclusion of Boti language in the 8th schedule with the Minority Commission at Delhi strongly. She also assured to take the issues like relaxation in the age and qualification or availing various loan schemes for Leh district with commission and directed DC, Leh to give a detail report about the sanctioned and vacant posts of MBBS Doctors in the district.

The meeting was attended by ADC, Leh Moses Kunzang, all the concerned HODs including managers of J&K EDI, SC/ST Dev. Corporation.   Vice President LBA P.T Kunzang, President Anjuman Imamiya, Ashraf Ali Barcha, Vice President Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam Dr. Noor Mohammad, President Christian Community Dechen Chamgha and President Sikh Gurdwara Committee Harbans Singh also attended the meeting.
