Srinagar,19 August 2018:
On 14th of August, one person namely Tariq Ahmad Rather S/o Mohd Abdullah Rather R/0 Athwajan Panthchowk approached Police Station Pantha Chowk with a written complaint that some unknown person has fraudulently and without his knowledge withdrawn Rs. 80000/- in two instalments of Rs. 40000/- each on 9th and 10th of August using his debit card.
Accordingly case FIR No. 69/2018
U/S 420,379 RPC was registered and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation,it transpired that the ATM Card of complainant was swapped at HDFC Bank ATM Panth Chowk by some unknown person on pretext of helping the complainant in withdrawal of money.Several persons were brought for questioning.
CCTV footage was procured from the ATMs where the card was used and transaction made. Also CCTV footage from camera monitored by P/S
Pampore was obtained, and the image of accused was shared on social media. It was learnt that the accused resemble one Ajaz Ahmad Khan S/o Sonaullah Khan R/o Hyhama Kupwara, and accordingly raid was conducted at his house effecting his arrest.
The accused confessed to his role in the crime.
The investigation is on to see his involvement in some other similar fraud cases.
