Rajouri, Jan 18 |16: With the population growing day by day, India is also becoming the fastest growing economy in the world. And there are many allied sectors which are responsible for the quick economic growth and overall development of the country as well as the state of J&K. In our state, many things are being done in the field of education, science and technology, tourism etc but still there are many others sectors which need to be noticed and one of them is “Road Network”. The poor road conditions still remain one of the main problems of the commuters who used to visit daily in different parts of the city. The vehicles plying on the roads have been badly damaged due to such pathetic conditions of roads. The condition becomes worst when it comes to twin border districts of the state i.e. Rajouri and Poonch. The road network is not upto the mark in different parts of Rajouri town. The worst condition of roads is creating many problems to the locals. Roads play an important role in the process of development and indirectly responsible for the economic growth of the particular area. So it is important to maintain roads from time to time to ensure public safety. The worst condition of the roads is not a new thing for the Rajouri town. And in some areas due to bad condition of road, the problem of traffic jams, congestion, accidents can be seen usually. Every year funds are alloted for its maintance,but the ground reality is totally different. There are still many areas which are being ignored for the last many years. Some of the areas like the road from District Hospital to Govt PG College is in very bad condition. Also the road from Kheora to Dharali Bridge is in worst condition for the last couple of years. “The conditions of roads in Rajouri is not well even crossing zero km distance towards Darhal, Thanamandi, Kalakote, Budhal you will see the deteriorate and defunct condition of roads. Even the roads around the city are not in appropriate condition. So it is the highest responsibility of the authorities as well as the administration to make better roads because roads are the first sign of development”,quoted Mr.Vikrant Sharma, a prominent citizen of the town. “We have already started working on some projects and the work on Hospital- P.G.College road would be started by April this year,” said Sadeeq Wani, Executive Engineer, PWD Rajouri.
