40 PCR vans in advanced system for Jammu to meet any exigency

1812016181725938EARTH NEWS SERVICE |Jammu, Jan 18|16: All weather communication network is necessary for Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure quick response to exigencies. Besides conventional system of communication, a reliable and trusted alternate mechanism should be put in place to act swiftly in case of any calamity. This was stressed by Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, while inspecting the Hi-Tech Dial 100 System established in Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu here today. He said that with the introduction of the system, response time for redressal of grievances is reduced besides helping to minimise crime and provide security to the people. The DGP informed that 40 PCR vans have been included in the advanced system for Jammu City and its adjoining areas for meeting any exigency and grievance of the people. Movement of vehicles is also monitored through new system and global positioning system (GPS) is also installed in the Hi-Tech Dial 100 System, the DGP added. During the inspection, Rajendra spent hours with the technical staff to get feedback about the new system. He interacted with them and discussed steps for improvement of the system. He also interacted with the officers in different police stations and police posts, besides monitoring the traffic movement in various parts of the city. Later, the DGP convened a meeting of officers and discussed the important issues regarding improving communication networking in the Zone. He said that in view of the recent terrorist attacks at Udhampur and Pathankot, strong communication system has become more imperative to tackle the situations more efficiently and ensure security of the people. Rajendra said that the new Hi-Tech System has been introduced to cater to the demands of the force to provide better services to the people and detect crimes within minimum possible time. He asked the officers to monitor working of the system and ensure improvements by introducing new technologies. He assured that all assistance would be provided by PHQ to make it result oriented. Among others, the meeting was attended by IGP, Jammu Zone, Danish Rana, IGP Telecom, M. A. Ganai, DIG Jammu, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, DPT, Hilal Ahmed, SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand, SSP PCR, Ashok Sharma, SP Telecom Jammu, Devander Singh and other police officers.
