PRESS TRUST OF INDIA New Delhi, Dec 17|15: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Hema Malini on Wednesday opined that the juvenile convict in the December 16 gang-rape case has a very devilish mind and should be treated as other adults in the case. “I have told it earlier also that the juvenile was more involved in the crime than the other convicts, who harmed the girl. He has got a very devilish mind, he is crime minded,” the BJP MP from Mathura told media outside the Parliament. The 23-year-old paramedical student was brutally sexually assaulted on the ill-fated night of December 16 three years ago, and died 13 days later, triggering a massive public outrage. Among many, her spirit continued to live, and in tribute she was given the name ‘Nirbhaya’ or brave heart. The juvenile among Nirbhaya’s killers is all set to walk free on December 20 unless the Delhi High Court intervenes. The Centre is also opposed to his release after the Intelligence Bureau expressed apprehension that he has been radicalised during his stay at the juvenile care centre. Nirbhaya’s parents have maintained that they had failed to secure justice for her. Recently, the father of the girl said the juvenile convict should not be released as he is a “threat” to the society.
