Jammu, Dec 14|15: Reports have started pouring in that another Jagti type major Housing scandal was in the offing in state and this time at Vessu where government is establishing a colony to house around three thousand Kashmiri migrant employees in its Prime Minister’s Special Employment programme for migrants. According to reports the designs and other layout plans have been d i s c r e e t l y changed juts like Jagti Housing tenements for Kashmiri Migrants, where the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was told that migrants were being allotted two bedroom sets but in reality it was one bedroom set in which crores were alleged to have been siphoned off by the powers that be. It was alleged back then that Government of India had approved the plan for two bed room set which means two bedrooms and a hall with kitchen and bathroom but when the township was inaugurated the Prime Minister is said to have been denied any peek-a-boo inside quarters lest he comes to know about the Janta flat type accommodation being provided to migrants. However much water has flowing down the river Tawi since then and the scandal itself has been thrown into the dustbin of lethargic official mechanism and now a new government has taken over and new programmes are being announced for the rehabilitation of migrants. In this process the first concrete township is coming up near Vessu KP Colony, where temporary hutments made of asbestos like material have been created for the PM package employees, to accommodate those who are provided employment under PM’s Special Recruitment Scheme. The work however has hit the first controversy with allegations pouring in that this small township is also going the Jagti way as only 850 sq fts were being provided for a single quarter against the officially approved 1050 sq ft to erect around three thousand quarters on national highway in Anantnag district. According to sources the work is being executed by JKPCC and R&B to establish 496 quarters each in the first phase but while the earth was being dug the local Kashmir Pandit leaders found gaping holes in the approved plan and the plan being executed. The employees who are putting up at Vessu have warned the government of any hanky-panky this time and demanded that nothing less than the Mattan or Sheikhpora type accommodation would be accepted by the KPs and such gross violations would not be tolerated. Talking to Earth News Sanjay Koul, Chairman All J&K Displaced Youth Forum and President KP Colony Vessu said that they have come to know that the area of the quarters was being reduced from 1050 sq ft to 850 sq ft adding this will not be tolerated and KP youth will launch agitation if Jagti type Janta flats were constructed for the KPs this time. He said that he has already talked to the community MLC Surender Ambardar and would also speak to Amitabh Mattooo drawing their attention to correct the violation in the beginning so that another Jagti type Janta Flat Township is not thrust upon the hapless KPs. Koul also sought clarifications from the government in this regard saying government must clear the doubts and make the original plan public before it is too late
