EARTH NEWS SERVICE Jammu, Nov 26 |15: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura and Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali have said that the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to uplift the socio-economic condition of the weaker sections of the society especially those living in far-off and hilly areas of the State. They said several developmental initiatives have been launched by the Government under the State sector and the Centrally Sponsored schemes which have started showing results on the ground. The Ministers were addressing a gathering at the border village of Jeora in R S Pura sector of Jammu today. Hanjura and Zulfkar said; “Our mission is to ensure holistic development of the State on equitable basis, so that people get the requisite and essential amenities without facing any inconvenience”. They said people living in hilly areas especially those Gujjars, Bukerwals and Paharis who are living Below Poverty Line (BPL), would get focused attention under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) for construction of their residential houses. Minister for Agriculture, Hanjura said since agriculture is the backbone of the economy of the State, the Government is making concerted efforts to streamline the agriculture sector by introducing hi-bred seeds and modern gadgets of agriculture inputs. MLA, R S Pura, Dr Gagan Baghat and Former Member Parliament, Trilok Singh Bajwa also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the policies and programmes of the present Government.
