Chennai, Nov 25 (PTI) Delhi Dynamos’ marquee manager cum player Roberto Carlos has attributed his side’s crushing defeat in its last ISL game against Chennaiyin FC to “individual mistakes”.

Placed second in the points table, Dynamos suffered a 0-4 drubbing at the hands of Chennaiyin FC here last night.

There were quite a few defensive errors from Delhi in the first half, and that saw them heading into the break trailing 0-3.download (1)

Coming into the match, Delhi had conceded the least number of goals and when asked to comment on their outing, Carlos said: “When we lose, I take the responsibility. If you see all the goals, there were individual mistakes from us.”

Carlos was gracious in defeat and admitted Chennai were too hot to handle.

“They have important players like Raphael (Augusto), Bruno (Pelissari), (Stiven) Mendoza. If you allow these players to perform, that’s what they do. Today we didn’t know how to play against Chennai. Chennaiyin had the motivation to win.

“The players have to go there and do what they have to do and everything is psychological. We still have the opportunity to qualify for the semis, we still have three more games in hand. We are still focused on achieving this goal.”

The Brazilian also revealed as to what he told his players at the break.

“I was calm when I spoke to them. I just changed a few players and explained, ‘If you can’t do what I ask, you can leave and somebody else will do that. Everyone is ready to play. If you don’t perform, you are off and someone else comes in’.”

Carlos also spoke of Augusto and Mendoza, who scored his 10th goal of the season, in glowing terms.

“Raphael is a very good player. He is confident and has a strong personality. Mendoza here in the ISL, he is showing how important he is. Mendoza played really well. Some players when they get more opportunity, they show what they are capable of.
