Focus on collaborative efforts, Leh council set to join forces with NCUI

Leh, Sept 04: Looking forward to strengthen the collaborative efforts, the Leh Hill Council and National Cooperative Union of India are planning to join forces in several key areas such as skill development, livelihood enhancement, and natural farming, among others to further advance cooperative development and regional growth through targeted initiatives and strategic partnerships.
The Council and NCUI will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future, informed an official spokesperson as Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson chaired a meeting with distinguished representatives from the National Cooperative Union of India here on Wednesday.
Pradeep Kumar, Member of the Governing Council of NCUI; Sumit Singh, Advisor (Strategy & Cooperation); and Hari Prakash Sharma, Deputy Director of NCUI were present during the meeting.
During the meeting, Sumit Singh provided a summary of the key takeaways and action points from the recent two day workshop held on August 30th and 31st. This workshop, a collaborative effort between NCUI and the Government of the Union Territory of Ladakh, focused on various cooperative entrepreneurship projects and regional development initiatives.
Singh highlighted several ongoing projects, including the NCUI Haat, the Incubation Centre, and cooperative entrepreneurship efforts in partnership with GIZ India, the Art of Living Foundation, and the HCL Foundation. He also shared valuable insights gained from interactions with artisans and farmers in Ladakh during the workshop.
In the meeting, Pradeep Kumar proposed several policy measures aimed at enhancing the dairy and horticulture sectors in Ladakh.
The CEC expressed gratitude for NCUI’s efforts and requested a detailed action plan. This plan will outline potential interventions in areas such as skill development, livelihood enhancement, and natural farming, among others.
Furthermore, the CEC emphasized the importance of identifying key areas of collaboration to facilitate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NCUI and the LAHDC in the near future.
The meeting highlighted a shared commitment to advancing cooperative development and regional growth through targeted initiatives and strategic partnerships.
Meanwhile, Gyalson convened a meeting on Tuesday with the representative of members from the Rewa society to discuss the signing of Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) to be sign on 10th of September, between the Rewa Society and LAHDC Leh
Officials from the Rewa society gave a detailed presentation on the current scenario and also highlighted the various grievances with the Chairman. The meeting also discussed on the further strengthening of the Rewa society.
Gyalson was also called on by the Commandant CRPF, Kishore Kumar along with the Assistant Commandant, Viney Kumar Singh and Ms Divya Shree on Tuesday.
Gyalson appreciated the works carried out by the CRPF army in cooperation with the people of the Ladakh.
Further, Gyalson on Tuesday convened a meeting in the presence of Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh, Tsering Angchuk and Executive Councillor, Ghulam Mehdi regarding the construction of guest house and club house of LAHDC, Leh at Melongthang, Leh.
Consultant from Alternative Architecture, Ramneek Hooda presented a detailed overview of the upcoming projects at Melongthang and highlighted the key features of the upcoming project.
CEC, Tashi Gyalson discussed the construction of the guest house and club house with the concerned Heads of Departments and reviewed the current progress of the project.
