Leh, Sept 03: A delegation representing the Aryan community from the villages of Darchiks, Garkhone, Dha-Bema, and Hanu met with the Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Tashi Gyalson, today. The delegation, which included village Nambardar (headmen), the President of the Aryan Buddhist Association, members of the Aryan Youth Foundation from Garkhone, representatives from the Temple Association in Darchiks, and the BJP candidate from the Silmo constituency, presented a memorandum outlining several key requests.

One of the primary demands was the unification of the Aryan villages within the newly established Sham district. The delegation expressed their desire for greater administrative cohesion and representation, emphasizing the cultural and historical significance of the Aryan community in the region.

Chairman CEC Gyalson engaged in a detailed discussion with the delegation, seeking clarification on some of the critical issues faced by the villagers. The exchange was described as constructive, with the CEC showing a keen interest in understanding the community’s concerns.

In addition to the unification request, the delegation also urged CEC Gyalson to grant subdivision status to the Aryan valley. They argued that such a status would improve administrative efficiency and better address the developmental needs of the region. Furthermore, they requested the creation of dedicated councillor posts for the Aryan valley, aiming to ensure that their community has a stronger voice in local governance.

The meeting highlighted the community’s aspirations for greater recognition and autonomy within the administrative framework of Ladakh. Chairman CEC Gyalson assured the delegation that their concerns would be taken seriously and promised to consider their requests in the broader context of the region’s development.
